50 Cent

Curtis James Jackson III, born July 6, 1975 was an American actor as well as a rapper and businessman. Jackson was born in South Jamaica, Queens. He began his musical career when he produced Power of the Dollar, Columbia Records' 2000 release. However, Jackson was shot days before the scheduled release and the album was never released. In 2002, when 50 Cent released the mixtape Guess Who's Back? Eminem was able to find him and signed him to Shady Records. His first major label album, Get Rich or Die Trying (2003) was a commercial success. The Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles "In da Club", "21 Questions" and "In da Club" were the result of the album. It was also certified 9x platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. He also founded G-Unit Records that year, signing his G-Unit buddies Lloyd Banks, Young Buck, and Tony Yayo. This was before he became the head of East Coast hip-hop group G-Unit. 50 Cent also enjoyed similar commercial and critical success with his second album, The Massacre (2005), which contained the single "Candy Shop". After his fifth album Animal Ambition (2014) he made major musical changes and is currently working on his sixth studio record. He was co-founder and producer of Power (2014-2020) and will produce its spin-offs.
