Mike Tyson

Michael Gerard Tyson (born June 30 in 1966) is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1985 to 2005. The nicknames he was given were "Iron Mike" and "Kid Dynamite" in his early career, and later as "The Baddest Man on the Planet",Tyson is considered to be one of the most feared heavyweight boxers ever. He reigned as the undisputed world heavyweight champion from 1987 to 1990. Tyson won his first 19 professional fights through knockouts 12 times within the first round. Tyson was twenty years, four months, and 22 days old at the time winning his first heavyweight title, holds the record for the youngest ever boxer to hold the title. Tyson was the first heavyweight boxer to simultaneously be the holder of the WBA, WBC and IBF titles, and was the only heavyweight who unifies the three titles in succession. Tyson was crowned the champion of the line in 1990 after he defeated Michael Spinks within 91 seconds. In 1990, Tyson was knocked out by underdog Buster Douglas in one of the most dramatic upsets of all time. In 1992, Tyson was convicted of rape and sentenced to six years in prison, although he was released on parole after three years. Following his release in 1995 Tyson was involved in a string of comeback fightsand regained the WBA and WBC titles in 1996 to join Floyd Patterson, Muhammad Ali, Tim Witherspoon, Evander Holyfield, and George Foreman as the only boxers to have regained the title of heavyweight champion following the loss. Tyson was stripped of his WBC title that year and lost his WBA title to Evander Hollyfield in an eleventh round. Tyson bit Holyfield's ears in 1997, and the fight ended. The bite was believed to have been so strong to cause Holyfield to lose a portion of his right ear. Tyson lost the world title in 2002 to Lennox Lewis by knockout. Tyson was 16th on the Ring's 100 Greatest Punchers list [14] and was the first to be included on ESPN's "The Most Hard-hitting Fighters in Heavyweight History" list. Sky Sports described him as "perhaps the most fierce boxer to ever step into an official ring".He is admitted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame as well as the World Boxing Hall of Fame.
