Lewis Hamilton

Sir Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton MBE HonorFREng, a British racing driver currently participating in Formula One for Mercedes, was born on January 7, 1985. In Formula One, Hamilton has been awarded a record-breaking seven World Drivers' Championships (tied with Michael Schumacher), and holds the records for the most wins (103) and pole positions (103), and podium finishes (191), in addition to others.Born and raised in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, Hamilton was accepted into the McLaren young driver programme in 1998. Hamilton was the first and sole black driver in Formula One from 2007 to the year 2012. Hamilton was second with just one point behind Kimi Raikkonen in his debut season. He won his maiden title the following season in a dramatic fashion. This was after he made a critical overtake in the final race of the season to become the youngest Formula One World Champion. Hamilton was forced to leave McLaren after six years, and joined Mercedes in 2013. He was required to adopt a turbo-hybrid motor for the regulations of 2014. This was the start of a period of success for Hamilton. Hamilton has since won another six drivers' championships. In 2014, he won consecutive titles and 2015 amid a fierce competition with his teammate Nico Rosberg. Following Rosberg's retirement, Sebastian Vettel, Ferrari's Ferrari driver, became Hamilton's most close competitor. In two championship battles Hamilton twice prevailed over the mid-season deficit in points to take consecutive championships in 2017 and in 2018. To match Schumacher's record of seven drivers Hamilton's third and fourth consecutive titles were won in 2019 as well as 2020.
