Connie Nielsen

 Nielsen's feature film debut was in the Jerry Lewis French film Par or t'es rentre ? T'a not seen it all was her debut feature film role. In the following years, she was a part of the Italian mini-series Colletti Bianchi (1988). In 1991, she was a part in the film Vacanze di Nara 1991 (1991) and later in 1993 in Le Paradis Abssolument (1993). She moved to America around the middle of the 1990s. In 1997, she appeared alongside Al Pacino in The Devil's Advocate. This first minor breakthrough led to roles in the films Permanent Midnight (1998), Rushmore (1998), as well as Soldier (1998).In 2000, Nielsen appeared as Lucilla in Ridley Scott's Gladiator in which she starred alongside Russell Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix. Since since then, she has appeared in American films including Mission to Mars (2000), One Hour Photo (2002), The Hunted (2003) as well as Basic (2003) which was for which she had to cut off the majority of her hair. She also starred as the French thriller Demonlover (2002, directed by Olivier Assayas). In A Shine of Rainbows 2009 She played the part of the role of an Irish mother of an orphan. Nielsen in 2009. Nielsen's Danish film debut was Brodre (also also known as Brothers) in 2004. She was awarded the Danish Best Actress Award for Denmark in the form of the Bodil. The festival also awarded her the European Film Awards for Best Actress. Nielsen was Detective Dani Beck's co-star on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episodes that aired in 2006. She was the replacement for Mariska Hargitay, who was pregnant at the time of filming.
