Christina Maria Aguilera (/aegI’le@r@/; Spanish born December 18 in 1980), is an American singer-songwriter, actress and a television host. She is known for her four-octave voice range and her ability to sustain high notes, she is often referred to as the "Voice of Generation". Aguilera gained fame with her eponymous debut album and is acknowledged as having influenced the revival of pop music for teens during the latter half of the 1990s and the early 2000s. After appearing on television, Aguilera signed to RCA Records in 1998. Her debut album spawned three Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles including "Genie in a Bottle", "What a Girl Wants" and "Come On Over Baby (All I Want is You)" -which earned her the Grammy Award for Best New Artist. Established as a bubblegum pop artist, she debuted her first Spanish record, Mi Reflejo (2000), which was atop the Billboard Top Latin Albums for nineteen consecutive weeks. Aguilera was the artistic director of her fourth studio album Stripped (2002). The music video for "Dirty" included Aguilera's expressing her sexuality in the music video. The controversy erupted and the demotion of her image as a teenage idol. The singer was nonetheless called the most successful female artist of 2003 when her singles "Beautiful", Fighter, and "Can't Hold Us Down" made it to the top ten across a variety of countries.
