 Ronda Jean Rousey (/'raUzi/; born February 1 1987) is an American professional wrestler and actress. She was also a former judoka, and mixed martial artist. She is currently signed to WWE. She is a part of the SmackDown brand and is currently the SmackDown Women's champion in her second term. She is most famous for her participation in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC Her long standing name, "Rowdy", was taken from professional wrestler Roddy Piper.The first American female to be awarded an Olympic medal in judo , winning bronze in the 2008 Summer Olympics, Rousey began her mixed martial arts (MMA) career with King of the Cage in 2011. She then joined Strikeforce as their last Women's Bantamweight Champion until its acquisition by UFC. 15 Rousey was one of the first ever female-only fight at UFC 157, was their inaugural Women's Bantamweight Champion, and was the record holder for the the most UFC titles defended (6) by a female, until being overtaken by Valentina Shevchenko in 2022. Rousey retired from MMA in 2016 and was the first female fighter to be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2018.Rousey began her career in professional wrestling in 2018, signing with WWE. She made her debut in the ring at WrestleMania 34. She was the Raw Women's Champion at that year's SummerSlam and also headlined WWE's debut all women's pay-per view when she defended her title at WWE Evolution. Rousey was unable to defend her title in the first-ever women's WrestleMania main event at WrestleMania 35. Rousey took the Royal Rumble 2022 women's Royal Rumble match. In a loss, she challenged Charlotte Flair to the SmackDown Women's Championship at Wrestlemania 38. Rousey defeated Flair in the WrestleMania in the following month in an "I Quit" match to win the SmackDown Women's Championship. She lost the title to Liv Morgan due to a cash-in at the bank, and then regained her title in Extreme Rules making her a two-time SmackDown Womens Champion.
