Morgan was born on November 10, 1968 in Brooklyn. He was lived in the Brooklyn's Marlboro Houses and Tompkins Houses in its Bedford Stuyvesant neighborhood He is the second of five children[3] of a homemaker, Alicia (nee Warden),and Jimmy Morgan was a musician who left the family at the age of Morgan was six years old. His father named him Tracy to honor a platoon mate and friend who sailed off to Vietnam with him and was killed in action just days later.The target of bullies as a child, Morgan attended DeWitt Clinton High School. At the age of 17 Morgan found out that his father had been infected with HIV by using hypodermic needles. The father passed away in the month of January, 1987 age 38. Morgan married Sabina the girl he was with that year. He dropped out of highschool just four credits short to graduate to care his ailing father. After his best friend's murder, Morgan began making money on the streets as a comedian. He said in 2009: "He would say to me, 'Yo Tracy, man, you should be performing comedy.' He was killed the next week. That was my Vietnam. As I started to achieve success I was afflicted with a feeling of survival guilt. How I got there and others didn't.Morgan embarked on his stand-up comedy career and was successful enough to "finally moved into a nice community in [The Bronx neighborhood of] Riverdale and retreated from a decaying apartment that was located near Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.
