Marilyn Monroe

Marilyn Monroe (/maer@lIn m@n@roU/ born Norma Jeane Mortenson, June 1, 1926 - August 4 1962) was an American actress. Famous for playing comedic "blonde bombshell" roles, she became one of the most recognizable images of sex in the 1950s and 1960s, as well as a symbol of the sexual revolution that was taking place at the time. She was a top-billed actress for 10 years and her films made 200 million (equivalent to $2 billion in 2021) by the time of her death in the year 1962. 3] Even after her death, Monroe remains a major celebrity in pop culture. [4] In 1999, the American Film Institute ranked her sixth on their list of most influential female screen legends of the Golden Age of Hollywood. Many film critics and media outlets have named Monroe as one of the most outstanding actors who have never been awarded an Academy Award. Monroe was born in Los Angeles and spent her childhood in 12 foster homes as well as an orphanage. She got married at the age of 16. In the year World War II broke out and Monroe began working in a factory. The photographer she met was from the First Motion Picture Unit. This led to a short-lived career as a pin-up model. In the late 1950s, after a few minor roles in films she signed to a contract with Fox. Within the next two years, she was an actress of note, appearing in several comedies, including As Young as You Feel and Monkey Business, and in the dramas Clash by Night and Don't bother to Knock. Even though she was involved in scandal after it was revealed that she had taken naked pictures before she became a famous actress but the scandal didn't impact her career. Instead, it brought more attention to her films.
