Marie Osmond

Marie was the first of the two siblings (out of nine) in the Osmond family that were not in the music industry; Tom Osmond who was deaf was the other. (Virl Osmond, the hearing-impaired older brother, was working behind the scenes to create dance routines. After the initial success of the Osmonds in the year 1970, Donny gained success as a solo artist on the popular music charts and became an teen idol. The Osmonds' mother persuaded Marie to record an album , and she signed on with the family's label MGM/Kolob Records and began making concert appearances together with her brothers. As her brothers by 1972 were rocking out and her music was geared towards a market segment that the Osmond family had not targeted the country music market. Osmond's debut single, "Paper Roses", was released in 1973. It was a number. 1 country hit, reached the Top 5 on the Billboard magazine chart, and was a cross-over success. The album that had the same title also won a gold record. The artist released another singlein the form of "In My Little Corner of the Globe" as well as an album bearing the same title in 1974. Both songs made the Billboard country Top 40 in 1974. The title track from the album that followed, Who's Sorry Now, released in 1975, climbed to No. 40. In 1974, Osmond also had two pop music duet hits: "I'm leaving it all up to you" and "Morning Side of the Mountain". The first track was a Top 20 country hit, and both reached the Top 10 of the pop charts. Another duet featuring Donny, "Deep Purple", was popular, staying on the chart for six months before peaking
