Maggie Q

At a friend's suggestion, Q began modeling in Tokyo, Japan at the age of 17, prior to moving to Taipei, Taiwan. She attempted to do it again in Hong Kong where she adopted the stage name Maggie Q, as Quigley wasn't correctly pronunciation. Her mother had said that it was difficult to her. "I had twenty dollars in my wallet. I'm talking about, I did the same thing that my mother did when she quit Vietnam... did not speak the language... had no money. "[9] But in Hong Kong she became a protégé of Jackie Chan, who saw in her a potential action star. She learned professionalism from her extensive training as well as how to perform her own stunts. She later stated, "I had never done any kind of martial art before I started in the business. I was unable to touch my feet. "In 1998, [16] she began her acting career on the TV drama House of the Dragon, that was a huge success in Asia. She made her film debut in 2000 in the role of Anna in Model from Hell. Later she appeared in the role of Jane Quigley, FBI agent in the action-thriller Gen-Y Cops. Chan was so impressed by her appearance in Gen-Y Cops that he commissioned her to play the actress in Manhattan Midnight and Rush Hour 2. In 2002, she starred in Naked Weapon as the martial artist who assassinated Charlene Chuing. In 2004 she co-starred with Kelly Hu, Russell Wong along with other Asian-American actors on the 30-second PSA made by Mark Allen for CAUSE USA (Center for Asian Americans United for Self-Empowerment), The Least Likely and urging Asian as well as Pacific Islander Americans to register and vote. She was a part of the German-Singaporean television series House of Harmony opposite Fann Wong. She also produced Earthlings, a documentary about animal treatment, narrated Joaquin Phoenix.
