Lila Downs

 Ana Lila Downs Sanchez (born 9 September 1968 [1]) is a Mexican singer and songwriter from Mexico. She sings both her compositions as well as those of other artists using Mexican popular and traditional music. 2 She incorporates indigenous Mexican influences into her music and has recorded music in many indigenous languages, including Mixtec, Zapotec Mayan, Nahuatl, Nahuatl, Purepecha, Nahuatl, Nahuatl, Nahuatl, Nahuatl, Purepecha, Nahuatl, Nahuatl, Purepecha, Nahuatl, and Nahuatl. Born and raised in Oaxaca, she primarily studied at the Institute of Arts by Oaxaca and later attended the University of Minnesota, before leaving to pursue her career in music. She began to perform in the traditional music scene of Oaxaca City.Her debut album, Ofrenda, was released in 1994. Downs' debut album, La Sandunga (a commercial and critically acclaimed success) came out in 1999. With Border the album that she released as her debut, Downs achieved international success in 2001. It became a huge hit in Latin America and Mexico in the 2000s (decade). Downs's seventh album, Pecados y milagros (2011), topped album charts in most major markets and spawned chart-topping world music albums. The album she released in her eighth, "Balas y Chocolate" was released in the year 2015. The album she released in her ninth, Salon Lagrimas y Deseo, was released in 2017.
