Lennox Claudius Lewis CBE, CM CBE, was born 2 September, 1965. He is a former professional boxer and boxing broadcaster. Lewis is undisputed champion of heavyweight boxing, having been named three times the world champion, and twice lineal champion. Being a dual British and Canadian citizenship,[2] Lewis was a representative of Canada as an amateur at the 1984 and 1988 Olympics In the latter, he won an Olympic gold medal in the super-heavyweight division , after beating Riddick Bowe in the final. In the initial three years of professional competition, Lewis won several regional heavyweight championships. These included the European, British, and Commonwealth titles. After winning his first 21 bouts, he defeated Donovan Ruddock in 1992 to take over the number one place on the WBC rankings. He was named WBC heavyweight champion later in the year, after Riddick Bowe decided to give up the title in order to not defend the title against Lewis. The title was defended three times before a shocking loss by knockout to Oliver McCall in 1994. Lewis took revenge in a 1997 rematch to get back the vacant WBC title. Two fights with Evander Holyfield in 1999 (the first one ended with an unpopular draw) led to Lewis become the undisputed heavyweight champion by unifying his WBC title with Holyfield's WBA and IBF titles and the vacant IBO title. In 2000, the WBA took away Lewis of their title because Lewis chose to fight Michael Grant instead of mandatory challenger John Ruiz. The IBF also took away Lewis of their title when Chris Byrd, their mandatory challenger, decided to not take on him in 2002.
