Williams-Paisley's breakout role was Annie Banks in Father of the Bride (1991) and Father of the Bride Part II (1995) along with Steve Martin and Diane Keaton. The actress later was seen in Indian Summer (1993), Coldblooded (1995), The War at Home (1996) and, in 1996, was cast as the lead role on ABC drama series Relativity. The performance was praised by critics,[4however, the show was ended after 17 episodes due to the low ratings. In 2000, Williams-Paisley starred as Virginia in the fantasy mini-series The 10th Kingdom.From 2001 until 2008, Williams-Paisley portrayed Dana in the ABC sitcom According to Jim, opposite Jim Belushi and Courtney Thorne-Smith. She quit the show following the seventh season but she came back for the finale episode in 2009. Williams-Paisley took over Arija Bareikis' role as Sunny in The Last Night of Ballyhoo. The play was written by Alfred Uhry (of Driving Miss Daisy fame). The show ran from February 1997 to June 1998. In the years 2000 she also appeared in a several made-for-television films, and was a guest star in Less than Perfect, Boston Legal as well as Royal Pains. In the film world, she played opposite Matthew McConaughey in 2006 drama We are Marshall.In 2012, Williams-Paisley started playing the role of a recurring character of Peggy Kenter in the ABC drama series Nashville. [6] In December of 2015 Williams-Paisley was a part of Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip.Her mother, Linda, was diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia, which is a form of dementia. Williams-Paisley is the writer of Where the Light Gets In which was released on April 5th in 2016. The book recounts the tale of her mother's illness , from her diagnosis until her death. Seven months after the book's publication, her mother died in the month of November in 2016.
