Kate Winslet

 Kate Elizabeth Winslet CBE, /'wInzl@t/ was born on 5 October 1975. She is an English actress. [3] Known for her acting in independent film, particularly period dramas, as well as for her portrayals of headstrong and complicated women, she has won many awards such as an Academy Award, a Grammy Award and two Primetime Emmy Awards, three BAFTA Awards, and five Golden Globe Awards. Time magazine named Winslet one of the top 100 individuals in the world between 2010 and 2021. In 2012, she was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire. When she was 15 her first screen appearance was in the British television show Dark Season (1991). She made her film debut as a teenage killer in Heavenly Creatures (1994), and then went on to win a BAFTA Award for playing Marianne Dashwood in Sense and Sensibility (1995). Her role as the lead character in Titanic (1997), an epic romantic film that was the highest-grossing movie at that time, helped her achieve global stardom. Winslet opted out of big-budget roles in favor of period films such as Quills (2001) and Iris (2000). The science fiction romance Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) was an important point in her career. She also received recognition for her roles in Little Children (2006) and Revolutionary Road (2008). For playing the role of a former Nazi camp guard in the latter film, she was awarded the BAFTA Award and the Academy Award for Best Actress. Winslet's performance as Joanna Hoffman in the biopic Steve Jobs (2015) won her another BAFTA Award, and she was awarded two Primetime Emmy Awards for her performance in the HBO miniseries Mildred Pierce (2011) and Mare of Easttown
