Douglas moved from the Midwest to New York City in order to explore a career as a showbiz actor. She began her career as an illustration model for toothpaste advertisements. These and other appearances on TV have led New York photographers and journalists to give the "Miss Byline" crown. In four episodes of CBS's detective show Checkmate, she played Barbara Simmons. U.S. Marshal, Tightrope, The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet The Bachelor, Father, Adam-12, and Route 66. Douglas was also in Thriller season 1, episode 16 "The Hungry Glass".
