Daisy Jazz Isobel Ridley, a daughter of Christopher Ridley and Louise Fawkner Corbett, was born in London on the 10th April 1992. She grew up in Maida Vale. [1][2] She is the youngest of three daughters born to Christopher Ridley, a photographer and Louise (nee Fawkner-Corbett), who works in the field of internal communications at a bank. Her other sisters are Kika Rose, and Poppy Sophia.[6][7Additionally she has two older half-sisters. [8] Her mother's family, the Fawkner-Corbetts, were landed gentry who had medical and military backgrounds. Her paternal great-uncle, Arnold Ridley served in the military, too. He also developed a career as a writer and actor (and is best known for his role as Private Godfrey in the sitcom Dad's Army). Arnold Ridley was the brother of Daisy Dunn Ridley. He was the head of Engineering Secretariat at BBC from 1950 to 1965. While she wasn't a huge Star Wars fan growing up, Ridley was a dedicated Star Wars fan from the age of nine to eighteen. She was awarded an award at Tring Park School for the Performing Arts, Hertfordshire. After graduating from Birkbeck University's classical civilisation programme, Ridley was able to pursue an acting career. [18] Prior to being chosen for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Ridley worked for nearly two years as a bartender for two pubs across London. She began her online studies for the Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences in the year 2016.
