 Christopher Maurice Brown (born May 5, 1989) is an American musician, singer as well as a dancer and actor. According to Billboard, Brown is one of the top-rated R&B artists of his generation. He has often been called by his contemporaries as the "King of R&B" His style of music has been defined as polyhedric, with his R&B being defined by various influences from different genres, such as pop and hip hop. The songs he sings are mostly based around themes of sex, romance, fast life, desire regret, desire, and emotional conflict. Brown has gained the attention of a large number of fans and has drawn comparisons with Michael Jackson for his stage presence In 2004 Brown was signed to Jive Records, and released his self-titled debut studio album in the following year. It was later declared triple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) His debut single "Run It!" Brown's debut single "Run It!" reached the Billboard Hot 100 and was the first male artist to reach that level since 1995. The second album, Exclusive (2007), was met with even bigger commercial success across the world and spawned the second Billboard Hot 100 number one "Kiss Kiss".In 2009, Brown pled guilty to the charge of felony assault against his former girlfriend singer Rihanna. The third album, Graffiti was released in the year following. The album was a commercial failure when compared to his previous albums. [13] Following Graffiti, Brown released his fourth album F.A.M.E. Brown's fourth album F.A.M.E. (2011) was his first album to make it to the top spot on the Billboard 200. The album contained the most commercially successful singles "Yeah 3x", "Look at Me Now" and "Beautiful People", and earned the Grammy Award for Best R&B Album. His fifth album, Fortune, released in 2012, also topped the Billboard 200.Following the release of X (2014) and Royalty (2015) and Royalty (2015), his double-disc album from 2017, Heartbreak on a Full Moon comprising 45 tracks, was declared gold by the Recording Industry Association of America for sales combined and album equivalent units exceeding 500 000 units within a week. The album was then declared Double Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. Brown's ninth studio album Indigo was released in 2019 it also debuted on top of the Billboard 200. The album featured Drake's "No Guidance", which reached the top five of the Billboard Hot 100. It also broke the record for longest-running top spot on the Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay charts. The single "Go Crazy" was released in the year 2020 by Young Thug and Brown in the form of their joint mixtape Slime & B.
