Christopher Maurice Brown, born May 5th, 1989 was an American musician, dancer actor, and songwriter. According to Billboard Brown is among the most successful R&B artists of his time. He has often been called the "King" of R&B by his peers. His musical style can be described as polyhedric with numerous influences from hip hop and pop music. The lyrics of his are heavily influenced by romantic themes fast-paced life and love, regret, and emotional conflict. Brown has earned himself a cult following and wide comparisons to Michael Jackson for his stage presence. [8]
Brown was signed to Jive Records in 2004 and released his self-titled debut album. The Recording Industry Association of America later declared it triple platinum. His first single, "Run It!" was the first to be certified. Brown's first single "Run It!" reached the Billboard Hot 100 and reached the top spot. It was his first solo hit since 1995. His second album, Exclusive (2007), was a huge international commercial success and led to the second Billboard Hot 100 number one "Kiss Kiss" In 2009, Brown pled guilty to an assault charge against his former girlfriend, singer Rihanna. 12] The same year, he released his third album, Graffiti that was deemed to be a failure in the commercial market compared to his previous works. After Graffiti, Brown released his fourth album F.A.M.E. (2011) that was his first album to be ranked at the top of the Billboard 200. The album was a smash with the singles "Yeh 3x", “Look at Me Now," as well as "Beautiful People" that earned him the Grammy Award as Best R&B Album. His 2017 double-disc album Heartbreak on a Full Moon (45 tracks) was certified gold by The Recording Industry Association of America. This album had a combined sales and album-equivalent unit total of more than 500,000 after one week. Later, the Recording Industry Association of America declared it Double Platinum. In 2019 Brown's ninth studio album Indigo debuted at the top of the Billboard 200. The album featured the Drake featuring track "No Guidance" which reached the top five spots on the Billboard Hot 100 and broke the record for the longest-running number one on Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart Its chart popularity was further boosted by the hit single "Go Crazy" released the following year, alongside Young Thug as part of their mixtape Slime & B (2020)Brown has sold more than 197 million records across the globe, making him one of the world's best-selling music artists. Brown is also the highest-grossing African American tour artist of all time. Brown has the most Billboard Hot 100 entries of any male singer in history;as also the most top 40 songs of any R&B artist of all time. Brown was also ranked third in the list of Billboard's Top R&B/Hip Hop Artists of 2010. In his long career, Brown has won several awards which include a Grammy Award, eighteen BET Awards, four Billboard Music Awards, and thirteen Soul Train Music Awards. Brown also pursued acting as a profession. In 2007 Brown made his screen debut in a feature film Stomp the Yard, and was a guest star on the show The O.C. Other films that Brown has appeared in include This Christmas (2007), Takers (2010), Think Like a Man (2012) and Battle of the Year (2013) and She Ball (2020).
