 Charles Wade Barkley, born on 20 February 1963 Charles Wade Barkley, born February 20, 1963, is an American former basketball player who is also a TV analyst with TNT. Barkley was popularly referred to by the nicknames "Sir Charles" as well as 'Chuck' "the Round Mound of Rebound" after his 16-year career with three teams within the National Basketball Association. While he was smaller than the typical power forward but his speed and strength made him one of the best rebounders in the NBA. Barkley was a versatile player who could score, play, and also defend. Barkley was an 11-time NBA All-Star and was a player on the All-NBA Team. He also was awarded the 1993 NBA Most Valuable Player award (MVP). Barkley was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers as a fifth-round selection during the 1984 NBA draft. Barkley was selected to the 1985 NBA All-Rookie First Team. Barkley was the leader of rebounding between 1986 and 1987, and he was awarded his first NBA rebounding championship. In 1991, he was named NBA All-Star Game MVP. He also received the league MVP in 1993, while playing with the Phoenix Suns. He was an U.S. national basketball player and was awarded two gold medals in the 1992 and 1996 Olympic Games. He retired in 2000 , becoming the fourth NBA player to score 10,000 rebound, 20,000 points and 4000 assists. 2] LeBron James, Kevin Garnett and Tim Duncan have joined the 20K/10K/4K club following his retirement. Barkley was twice a Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductee. He spit on an unidentified girl in the month of March, 1991, and then attempted to spit on an opponent in 1993. The career of Barkley as an NBA analyst has been a success after he retired as an athlete. Barkley is a pundit in the studio on TNT's Inside the NBA, where the show covers NBA games. He has won four Sports Emmy Awards for this work. Barkley is also a journalist and has expressed an desire to be involved in politics.
