Busta Rhymes

  Trevor George Smith Jr.(born May 20, 1972) is professionally known as Busta Rhymes, is an American rapper and actor. Chuck D, a member of Public Enemy, gave him the name Busta Rhymes in honor of George "Buster", Rhymes (NFL and CFL wide receiver). He has received 12 Grammy Award nominations for his work, making him one of the most nominated artists with no winning.Busta Rhymes was an original member of Leaders of the New School, a group that attracted national attention when they went on tour for Public Enemy. The appearance of his guest on "Scenario" by A Tribe Called Quest was the catalyst for his being noticed. The group broke up shortly thereafter the release of the track, and Rhymes became a sought-after solo performer. He performed on a variety of tracks by other artists prior to releasing his solo album The Coming (1996). The album reached the Billboard 200 Album Chart's top 10 spots and was certified platinum by The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Rhymes was also awarded a Grammy nomination. The hit singles by Rhymes comprise "Woo Hah!" Have You All Under Control", "Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See", "Dangerous", "Turn It Up" (Remix)/"Fire It Up", "Gimme Some More", "What's It Gonna Be? He also founded the label Conglomerate which was formerly Flipmode Entertainment. The Conglomerate is a production crew that used the name Flipmode Squad. About.com included him on its list of the 50 greatest rappers of our Time (1987-2007),[10and Steve Huey of AllMusic called him one of the best and most prolific rappers of the 90s. In 2012, The Source placed him on their list of the top 50 Lyricists of All Time. MTV declared him "one the greatest visual artists in hip-hop".
