Ring makes home security items that incorporate security cameras for outdoor use, including the Ring Video Doorbell smart doorbell and also hosts an appcalled Neighbors to share online social media of footage that has been captured by the users. Ring also makes available footage of its cameras and data of its Neighbors app to law enforcement agencies on the request of law enforcement agencies. Its police partnerships have been criticised by civil rights advocacy groups for creating an invasive private surveillance network. Privacy concerns have increased after Mayor London Breed of San Francisco has backed ordinances that permit city police to have access to Ring footage at any time
