After deciding that the law was not for her, she had a placement with the Alice Temperley fashion house,[7] and participated in the primary elections of 2008 for Barack Obama in New Hampshire and was referred to her as being part of "the Scottish contingent" of his team, and provided her with a signed reference for her work After returning to Scotland after which she joined the Glasgow auction house McTear's, as an auctioneer and latterly as the Head of Pictures which focused on Scottish modern art. Following her wedding she has now shared the auctioneering and valuation work at McTear's alongside her TV career. In 2021, she launched a new business auctioning art from the studios where they were created.
