Philanthropists are people who give their time, money and reputation to charities. The term can be applied to anyone who volunteers or anyone who makes a donation, but the label is most often associated with those who make significant amounts of money or who make an impact with their volunteer work, for example, a trustee who manages a philanthropic organization or one who sets up and manages a foundation.A Philanthropist might not get universal support for their actions. Common accusations are that philanthropists support unworthy causes (e.g. funding art, instead of fighting the problem of hunger around the globe) and also that they are driven by self-interested motives (e.g. avoiding taxes or achieving personal fame). Philanthropists also take care of the needs of others instead.
