Leonardo da Vinci

 Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci[b] was a famous Italian polymath from the High Renaissance, who lived between 15 April 1452 to 2 May 1519. He was a painter/draughtsman/engineer as well as a scientist, engineer an theorist, sculptor and architect. His popularity was initially based on his accomplishments as a painter. However, his notebooks were what made him famous. In them, he sketched and recorded notes on various subjects including anatomy, astronomy , cartography and more. Leonardo is widely thought of as an exceptional artist, and epitomized Renaissance humanism. His work is an example to future generations that artists cannot be able to match the achievements of his younger colleague, Michelangelo. He was the son of a rich notary and a low-class Vinci woman. He studied in Florence under the direction of Andrea del Verrocchio, an Italian artist and sculptor. He started his career in the city, but later spent much time in the service of Ludovico Sforza in Milan. He worked again in Florence and Milan as well as briefly in Rome. All the while the Italian was attracting a huge number of imitators and students. Francis I invited him to France which he stayed for the last three years of his existence. The year 1519 was the year he died. After his demise, there has never been a time where his accomplishments, varied pursuits, personal lives, and empirical thinking have failed to draw attention and admiration, which has made him a popular name and the subject of culture.
