He also co-founded the now defunct Junior Basketball Association. He is father to three basketball players, Lonzo (Chicago Bulls' point guard), LaMelo (Charlotte Hornets point guard) and LiAngelo (Greensboro Swarm shooting forward). Ball played basketball and football at Canoga Park High School before going on to play basketball at the college levels at West Los Angeles College, Washington State, and Cal State Los Angeles. For a time in football, he played with Long Beach City College. He had an unprofessional career of a few months as a tight end for the London Monarchs of the World League of American Football, in which he accumulated a total of 28 return yards from kickoffs, and none of his receptions. He was a member of the practice squad of the New York Jets and Carolina Panthers in 1995, but he never played an official game within the National Football League.Following a string of outrageous statements made in the spring of 2017, Ball started making headlines across the nation. sports news stories. He claimed that Lonzo, his son, is more talented than Stephen Curry. Also, Ball said that he would defeat Michael Jordan one-on-1 in basketball. When he made similar comments about his company, Big Baller Brand, his comments were both applauded and criticised. Ball has been featured on television networks and has regularly drawn the attention from the major media outlets for sports. He has been in the news for his criticism of his sons' teams particularly the Lakers for their treatment of the Lonzo as well as for his confrontation with U.S. President Donald Trump after LiAngelo was detained in China for shoplifting.
