Hakuta imported the Wacky Wallwalker from Japan and offered it as a product. It was one of the most popular toys in the 1980s. The Wacky Wall Walker was a huge fad in 1983. Since then, more than 24 million units have been sold. In 1983, NBC aired an animated Christmas special, Deck the Halls with Wacky Walls to make money from the toy fad.Their popularity grew after the Kellogg Company inserted them as free prizes in cereal boxes. The VH1 program "I Love the 80s 1983" features Dr. Fad and the Wall Walkers.Hakuta is also an art lover and is well-known for a huge collection of Shaker furniture, objects, and other items, which acquired in 1991. These pieces are now part of the Mount Lebanon Shaker Society collection. In 1998, Hakuta began to tap into his long-standing interest and founded AllHerb.com. The eCommerce site provides information and products that are based on herbal remedies. AllHerb.com was determined to stand out from its competitors by positioning itself "the most reliable source of herbal medicine available today". For instance one of its spokespeople is a tribal healer and shaman of Peru. Another is an herbalist from the Peruvian rainforest. AllHerb.com ceased operations in February of 2000.
