Frodo Baggins

Frodo Baggins is a fictional character in J. R. R. Tolkien's work, and one of the protagonists of The Lord of the Rings. Frodo is a hobbit from the Shire who inherits the One Ring from his cousin Bilbo Baggins, described familiarly as "uncle" and embarks on the task of destroying it through the blazes of Mount Doom in Mordor. He appears in Tolkien's posthumously published works, The Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales.Frodo is repeatedly wounded during the course of his quest, and is more burdened by the Ring when it is nearing Mordor. The character changes too, growing in understanding and compassion, and avoiding violence. After his return to the Shire, he is unable to settle back into ordinary life; two years after the Ring's destruction and he is permitted to embark on a ship for the heavenly paradise of Valinor.Frodo's name originates from the Old English name Froda, meaning "wise through experiences". The commentators have said that he is the perfect blend of self-sacrifice, courage and loyalty. The character is also uninteresting, but grows through his quest to become a hero.
