Friendship

Friendship is a bond of mutual affection between individuals. It's a better kind of relationship than the term "acquaintance" or "association", such as a classmate, neighbor or coworker or colleague. In some cultures, the concept of friendship is restricted to a few extremely deep bonds; however, in other societies, such as the U.S. and Canada, one could have a lot of acquaintances, and perhaps a more intense relationship with a couple of people, who may be described as best or good friends. A more common name is besties, or Best Friends Forever. There are many types of friendship. They may differ in different places, but there are certain traits that are common in all forms. These include the ability to be together and spending time together, and being able to engage in a positive and helpful relationship with one another.Sometimes friends are different from family members, such as the saying "friends and family" or, sometimes, from the term "lovers" (e.g., "lovers and friends"), although there is a blurring of distinction between friendships that have benefits. The friend zone is where someone is restricted from becoming the status of lover (see the article Unrequited Love).
