William Henry Cosby Jr. (/kazbi/KOZ-bee 12 July 1937) was an American comedian actor, media personality and actor. He has been a major contributor to American as well as African American culture, and was given the nickname "America's Dad" because of his portrayal as Cliff Huxtable on The Cosby Show (1984-1992). He has received many awards and honorary degrees throughout his career. Many of which were cancelled following sexual assault allegations that were made against the actor in 2014.Cosby started his career as a comedian at the famously hungry i nightclub in San Francisco during the 1960s. He released several comedy stand-up albums that won him the Grammy Award in 1965 and 1970. He also had a lead part in the crime television show I Spy (1965-1968) opposite Robert Culp. Cosby played Robert Culp in the tv crime show I Spy (1965-1968). In the 1970s, Cosby starred in various films like Sidney's Uptown Saturday Night (1974) and Let's Do It Again (1975) as well as Neil Simon's California Suite (1978) alongside Richard Pryor.
