 Hayes first gained traction for songs "The Streets" and "STFU". After writing poetry for slam poetry with Lil Baby, he signed to Lil Baby's 4 Pockets Full (4PF) and Yo Gotti's Collective Music Group (CMG) along with Interscope Records.featured on Lil Baby's track "We Paid" in May 2020, reaching number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100. The mixtape Young & Turnt 2 saw an increase in sales, reaching the number 58 spot in the Billboard 200 and six on the Billboard Independent Albums charts. Hayes continued to be a hit by guest appearances on songs by other artists, such as Marshmello and Lil Keed as well as Meek Mill, Blac Youthsta, Blac Youngsta and Big Sean. Three people were injured in an attack at Roddy Ricch's and 42 duggs music video shoot in Atlanta on February 21, 2021. OMB Peezy was later charged for the shooting, an aggravated assault using an deadly weapon and possession of a firearm during the execution of a crime. All three injured were able to survive. In May 2021, Billboard named 42 Duke as the "R&B/Hip-Hop Rookies of the Month". Dugg also released the 19-track mixtape called Free Dem Boyz on May 21st 2021. This was in tribute to his buddies who were in prison. The "standout" track, "4 da Gang" includes Roddy Ricch. Other guest appearances include Lil Durk and Rowdy Rebel.
