Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. (born on the 20th of October, 1971), known professionally as Snoop Dogg (previously Snoop Doggy Dogg and briefly Snoop Lion),[note 1] is an American rapper. His fame dates back to 1992, when he appeared in Dr. Dre's first solo single, "Deep Cover", and then on Dre's debut solo album The Chronic. Broadus has sold more than 23 million albums within the United States and 35 million albums across the globe. [2][3] His accolades include an American Music Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, and 17 nominations for Grammy Awards.Broadus' debut solo album, Doggystyle, produced by Dr. Dre It was released by Death Row Records in November 1993, and was ranked first on the chart of popular albums as well as the Billboard 200 and also on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The album sold 800,000 copies within its first week, Doggystyle was certified quadruple-platinum in 1994. The album also included two singles "What's My Name?" as well as "Gin and Juice". The year 1994 saw Death Row Records released a soundtrack, by Broadus for the short film Murder Was the Case, with Snoop. The album Tha Doggfather debuted at number 1 on both charts in 1996 with "Snoop’s Upside Ya Head" as the first single. The album was double-platinum the following year. Broadus left Death Row Records in January 1998 and signed with No Limit Records. He released three Snoop albums: Da Game Is to be Sold to be Sold, not to be Told (1998), No Limit Top Dogg (99) and Tha Last Meal (2000). He signed with Priority/Capitol/EMI Record in 2002 and released Paid tha cost of being da Boss. He signed with Geffen Records in 2004 and released his subsequent three albums: R&G (Rhythm & Gangsta: The Masterpiece ), Tha Blue Carpet Treatment and Ego Trippin'. Priority Records released Malice 'n Wunderland in 2009, and Doggumentary in the year 2011. Snoop Dogg has been featured in many motion pictures and hosted many television shows including Doggy Fizzle Televizzle and Snoop Dogg's Father Hood. He also coaches for a high-school and youth football league. In September 2009, EMI appointed him chairman of a newly reactivated Priority Records
