Patti LaBelle

 Patricia Louise Holte, born on the 24th of May 1944, [1] is most well-known for her portrayal as Patti LaBelle. She is an American R&B actress and singer and a businesswoman. LaBelle is referred to as the "Godmother of Soul". She started her career as the lead singer and frontwoman for the vocal group Patti LaBelle & the Bluebelles during the 1960s. Following the group's name change to Labelle in the 1970s, they released the popular number-one song "Lady Marmalade". After the breakup of the group in the year 1976, LaBelle started a successful solo career. Her critically acclaimed debut album featured the song that made her famous, "You Are My Friend". LaBelle was a well-known solo star in 1984 following the success of the singles "If Only You Knew", "Love, Need and Want You" (later sampled for 2002's "Dilemma"), "New Attitude" and "Stir It Up". A year later, LaBelle was a mainstream solo star. In 1986 she scored a number one album, Winner in You[3] aswell in a top duet single "On my Own" with Michael McDonald. In 1989 the album the group Be Yourself recorded the hit song "If You Asked me To", which Celine Dion later covered. LaBelle received the Grammy in 1992 for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. The album from 1991'Burnin' included tracks like "Somebody loves You Baby (You know who is)," "Feels Like Another One (Feels Like Heaven)," and "When You've Been Blessed (Feels Like Heaven). One Night Only. One Night Only. Following the release of Back to Now, she reunited with her Labelle bandmates and was followed by a successful promotional tour.
