Johnny Depp

John Christopher Depp II (born June 9 1993) is an American actor and musician from the United States. Numerous awards have been presented to Depp, including the Screen Actors Guild Award and the Golden Globe Award. He has also been nominated for three Academy Awards, two BAFTA Awards, and Platoon (1986). Depp became famous for his role as an 21 Jump Street teen idol (1987-1990). Depp was a principal actor in independent films, usually with eccentric directors, during the 1990s. The films included Cry-Baby (1990) and What's eating Gilbert Grape (1993), Benny and Joon (1993), Dead Man (1995), Donnie Brasco (1997), and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998). Depp also began his long-running collaboration with director Tim Burton, portraying the lead roles in the film Edward Scissorhands (1990), Ed Wood (1994) as well as Sleepy Hollow (1999).In the 2000s, Depp became one of the most successful commercial film stars when he played the role of Captain Jack Sparrow in the Walt Disney swashbuckler film series Pirates of the Caribbean (2003-2017). Depp also received praise for Chocolat (2000, Finding Neverland (2004) and Public Enemies (2008). He continued his successful collaboration with Tim Burton on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2006), in which he played Willy Wonka and Corpse Bride (2005) and Sweney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street 2007 and Alice in Wonderland (2010). In 2012, Depp was the highest-paid actor in the world, earning US$75 million in one year. Infinitum Nihil was Depp's first production company. He also won critical acclaim for Black Mass (2015) and formed the rock supergroup Hollywood Vampires with Alice Cooper and Joe Perry, before starring in the role of Gellert Grindelwald in the Wizarding World films Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016) and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018)Between 1998 and 2012, Depp was in a relationship with French singer Vanessa Paradis and together they had two children, including Lily-Rose Depp. Depp was married from the year 2015 until 2017. Both Amber Heard and Depp claimed that they had abused each other during their divorce. This attracted a lot of media attention. Depp was suing The Sun, a British tabloid, for defamation. A judge ruled the publication calling him a "wife-beater" was accurate. Depp later won a case against Heard in a 2022 court trial in Virginia and a jury of seven decided that the claims of "sexual violence" and "domestic abuse" were untrue and defamed Depp under American law.
