 Eva de la Caridad Mendez (/'mendez/, Spanish: ['eba de la kari'dad'mendes] born on March 5th, 1974),[2] known professionally as Eva Mendes, is an American model, actress and fashion designer. In the late 1990s her acting career started with roles in films like Children of the Corn V: Fields of Terror (2000) and Urban Legends: Final Cut 2000. The role she played in Training Day (2001), marked a turning point for her career. She would later appear in the films that were commercially successful, 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003 and 2005) and Hitch (2005). She appeared in Ghost Rider (2007) and The Spirit (2008), films based on comics. She then ventured into more dramatic areas with We Own the Night (2007), Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans (2009), Last Night (2010), as well as The Place Beyond the Pines (2012). Her other films include Out of Time (2003), The Women (2008), The Other Guys (2010), and Girl in Progress (2012)Mendes has appeared in numerous music videos for artists like Will Smith, and has also been an ambassador for various brands, including Calvin Klein, Cartier, Reebok, Pantene shampoo, Morgan and Peek & Cloppenburg. She is also the creative director at CIRCA Beauty, a Walgreens makeup brand. She has been with Canadian actor Ryan Gosling since 2011, and they have two daughters.
