David Ortiz

 David Americo Ortiz Arias (born on November 18, 1975) known as "Big Papi" is a Dominican-American ex-designated hitter (DH) and first baseman in Major League Baseball who played in the American League (AL) from 1997 to 2016 primarily with the Boston Red Sox. After six years with the Minnesota Twins, with no noteworthy results, Ortiz was promoted to the Red Sox where he played a key role in the team's 2004 World Series championship drought. The team also won championships between 2007-2013. He was named the World Series Most Valuable Player in 2013. He averaged 41 home runs per year and 128 RBI during the first five seasons of his. After playing for a period of six seasons for the Minnesota Twins, Ortiz made the move to the Red Sox. There, his contributions helped the team end its drought of 86 years in 2004 and also won championships in 2007 and 2013. In 2013 He was named the World Series Most Valuable Player. [1] He was awarded the Edgar Martinez Award for the league's top DH eight times. As a DH was a major player, he set league records in career home runs, RBI (1,569), and hits (2,192). He played 10 seasons in which he hit 30 home runs and 100 RBI and batting.300 or more seven times. There was a dip in his offensive performance between 2008 and 2012 and enjoyed a strong recovery in the last four years. The season that ended in 2012 saw him lead the AL in RBI and doubles as well as slugging percentage with a total of 541 home runs. He is regarded as one of the greatest players to hit clutch,[2the catcher had 11 career walk-off homers during the regular season, and two in the postseason in 2004, the first of which clinched the AL Division Series. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in his debut year of eligibility in 2022.
