Christina Maria Aguilera, (/aegI’le@r@/; Spanish born December 18, 1980), is an American singer-songwriter, actress, and a television host. She is famous for her high-pitched voice and her four-octave range. The debut album she released was a huge success , and she was credited with helping to revive teen pop in the late 1990s. Her music, which combines sexuality, feminism and domestic violence, have sparked both criticism and controversy, for which she is often cited as an influence by other artists.After appearing in television programs, Aguilera signed with RCA Records in 1998. The album's debut singles included three Billboard Hot 100 number one singles "Genie in a Bottle" and "What a Girl Wants" and earned her the Grammy Award as Best New Artist. Her first Spanish album, Mi Reflejo (2000, her bubblegum pop debut) was released. It was atop the Billboard Top Latin Albums charts for 19 weeks in a row. Aguilera assumed artistic control for her fourth studio album Stripped (2002). The music video for "Dirty" featured Aguilera's expression of her sexuality in the music video. This led to controversy and the removal of her image as a teenage idol. However, further singles "Beautiful", "Fighter" and "Can't Hold Us Down" became top-ten singles in many countries. She also was named the most popular female artist of 2003.Her fifth album, Back to Basics (2006) was received favorable reviews and became the second of her career to be ranked at the top of the Billboard 200. The singles "Ain't the Same as You", "Hurt" and "Beautiful" made it to the top ten across a variety of countries. Aguilera was the main character in Burlesque in 2010 and also was a contributor to the soundtrack. Later on she was featured on the successful singles "Feel This Moment", "Say Something" and "Moves Like Jagger". The latter was a top-ten hit on the Billboard Hot 100 making Aguilera one of only a handful of artists to make it to the top spot in three decades. Apart from her work as a musician, she was a spokesperson and coach for The Voice (2011-2016), and also an actor in Nashville (2015). She headlined Christina Aguilera: Xperience in 2019, her debut residency show in the prestigious Planet Hollywood Las Vegas. Aguilera is a pop culture legend who is described as a triple threat performer. She is a well-known musician and songwriter, with the estimated sum of 90 million albums sold. In 2009, Billboard ranked her the twenty-fifth-highest-performing artist of the 2000s. She has been awarded many awards and accolades throughout her career. These include five Grammy Awards, two Latin Grammy Awards (VMA), two MTV Video Music Awards(VMA) and one Billboard Music Awards (Billboard Music Awards), one Guinness World Record and a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame. Aguilera is regarded as one of the most influential Latin performers in the entertainment business. in 2013, Time listed her among the top 100 most influential individuals worldwide and she was named the eighth greatest female in the world by VH1. She is regarded as one of the most powerful singers of the present day pop scene and is recognized by magazines such as Rolling Stone or Consequence of Sound among the best ever.
