William Bradley Pitt (born December 18, 1963) is an American actor and film producer. He has won various accolades, including two Academy Awards, a British Academy Film Award as well as two Golden Globe Awards, and an award called a Primetime Emmy Award. Pitt is a well-known public figure and has been referred to as one of America's most powerful and influential people. He first came to prominence as a hitchhiker of cowboys in Ridley Scott's film Thelma & Louise (1991). His first major part in big-budget productions came with the drama films A River Runs Through It (1992) and Legends of the Fall (1994) as well as the horror movie Interview with the Vampire (1994). The film was critically acclaimed and Pitt was in David Fincher's crime-thriller Seven (1995) as well as the science fiction film 12 Monkeys (1996). He was awarded the Golden Globe Award as Best Supporting Actor for the latter film and was nominated for his first Academy Award. He cemented his leading man role in blockbusters, including the epic historical drama Troy (2004) as well as the romantic crime film Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005) as well as the film of horror World War Z (2013) and the action movie Bullet Train (2022). Pitt also appeared in critically highly acclaimed films Fight Club (1999), Babel (2006) and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2008). He also appeared in Burn After Reading (2008). Pitt earned Academy Award nominations for his performance in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008) and Moneyball (2011), and he won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for playing an stuntman in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019).
