Shirley MacLaine

 Shirley MacLaine (born Shirley MacLean Beaty on April 24, 1934)[1She is an American actress writer, author and former dancer. Known for her portrayals of quirky, strong-willed and bizarre women, MacLaine has received numerous honors throughout her seven-decade career which include an Academy Award, an Emmy Award and two British Academy Film Awards, six Golden Globe Awards, two Volpi Cups and two Silver Bears. MacLaine is one of the few remaining stars from the golden age of Hollywood.Born in Richmond, Virginia, MacLaine began her acting career in her teens, with minor parts in the Broadway musicals Oklahoma! as well as The Pajama Game. After a few minor roles as substudies in other films, MacLaine made her debut in a film with Alfred Hitchcock’s black comedy The Trouble with Harry (1955) in which she received the Golden Globe Award to New Star of the Year - Actress. MacLaine gained acclaim for her starring parts in Around the World in 80 Days (1956), Some Came Running (1958), Ask Any Girl (1959) and The Apartment (1960), The Children's Hour (1961), Irma la Douce (1963), Sweet Charity (1969) and Been There (1979). MacLaine was an eight-time Academy Award nominee. She won the Academy Award as Best Actress for the James L. Brooks comedy drama Terms of Endearment (1983). MacLaine played the role of Coco Chanel in Coco Chanel (2008). She received an award for her performance in Coco Chanel (2008). She was awarded a Primetime Emmy Award and Screen Actors Guild Award in addition to as nominations for the Golden Globe Award.
