Reba Nell McEntire, better known as Reba was born on March 28th in 1955. She is referred to as "the Queen of Country", [3] and has sold more than 75 million albums around the globe. McEntire's songs have been on the Billboard Hot Country Songs Charts more than 100 times since the 1970s. 25 of them have reached the top position. McEntire has also been an actor on film and television. She was the main character in Reba the TV show which aired for over six seasons. She also is the owner of several companies which include a clothing line. McEntire is the fourth of her children. She was born in Oklahoma and was raised in Oklahoma. McEntire was a part of the Singing McEntires with her mother and siblings. They recorded songs for a small label and performed in local venues. McEntire was enrolled at Southeastern Oklahoma State University to learn to become an educator in public schools. Red Steagall, a country singer, saw McEntire sing at the rodeo. Steagall was attracted by McEntire's voice and was able to secure her an album deal with PolyGram/Mercury Records. McEntire moved to Nashville, Tennessee with her mother in the year 1975. McEntire's music grew in popularity during the 1980s with several top ten hits like "(You lift me) up to Heaven" I'm Not that lonely yet" and her debut number 1 hit single "Can't even Get the Blues". McEntire felt dissatisfied with her career , and was signed to MCA Records, 1984. The second MCA album, My Kind of Country (1984), was her first major album. It produced two top-of-the-line Billboard country songs. The album hints at the more traditional style of music. McEntire scored 10 more number one country songs and released seven more studio albums during the 1980s. McEntire's top-rated singles were "One Promise Too Late" and "The Last One to Know, and "Whoever's in New England" The latter was nominated for an Grammy Award.
