Nas

Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones (/na:'sI@r/; born September 14th, 1973) popularly known as his stage name Nas (/na:z/), is an American rapper. He is considered to be one among the top rappers of all time as he was raised in East Coast hip-hop. [1][2][3] Jones is the son of jazz musician Olu dara, started his career as a musician in 1989 when he embraced "Nasty Nas" and began recording demos for Large Professor. Later, he featured on the Main Source 1991 single "Live at the Barbeque". Nas's first album, Illmatic (1994), received acclaim from all over the world upon its release, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest hip hop albums of all time;[4][5] in 2021, the album was inducted into the Library of Congress's National Recording Registry. The album that followed The album It was Written (1996) It Was Written (1996), debuted on the top spot of the Billboard 200. The album was charted for four weeks and was a huge success. In 1999, his albums I Am (and later Nastradamus) were both criticized for being too commercially-oriented and inconsistency. The public and critics were worried that his work was deteriorating in quality. Between 2001 and 2005, Nas was involved in a very publicized battle with Jay-Z that was made famous by the diss track "Ether". It was this feud, along with Nas' albums Stillmatic (2001), God's Son (2002), and the album Street's Disciple (2004) which helped restore his critical standing. After settling the conflict, Nas signed with Jay-Z's Def Jam Recordings (2006). Nas took an aggressive and politicized approach to his albums Hip Hop Is Dead (2006), and his untitled 9th studio album (2008). In 2010 Nas released Distant Relatives, a collaboration album with Damian Marley, donating all the royalties to charities working in Africa. The 10th studio album, Life Is Good (2012) was nominated for Best Rap Album at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards. After 13 nominations, King's Disease, his 12th studio album was selected for Best Rap Album at The 63rd Annual Grammy Awards. He continued to follow that with King's Disease II (2021) which was his thirteenth studio album. The album he released 14th, Magic was released the following year. King's Disease III (2022) is his fourth album in a row. He collaborated with Hit-Boy.
