Lennox Lewis

Lennox Claudius Lewis CBE, CM CBE, was born 2 September 1965. He was an ex-professional boxer and boxing broadcaster. Lewis is the only champion of heavyweights who is undisputed and three-time world champion heavyweight. Dual Canadian as well as British citizenship, Lewis was an amateur representative of Canada at the 1984 and 1988 Olympics. He took home the gold medal in the super-heavyweight class after beating Riddick bowe in the final. Lewis also won numerous regional heavyweight titles during his first three years as a professional. After winning his first 21 bouts in 1992, he was able to defeat Donovan Ruddock in 1992 to become the top spot on the WBC rankings. The following year the title was awarded to him as WBC heavyweight champion following Riddick decided to not defend the title against Lewis. He defended the title three times prior to an unexpected knockout defeat to Oliver McCall in 1994. Lewis won back the vacant WBC heavyweight title in 1997, following a match that was rematch. The third fight against Evander Holyfield ended in a controversial draw. Lewis became the undisputed champion of heavyweight after unifying Holyfield's WBA, IBF and WBC titles, as and also the vacant IBO title. In 2000, the WBA took away Lewis of his title after Lewis chose to fight Michael Grant instead of mandatory challenger John Ruiz. In the same way in 2002, the IBF stripped Lewis of their title in 2002 after Lewis chose to not take on their mandatory challenger Chris Byrd.
