Cent (currency)

 The symbol for the cent can be used to symbolize the cent. It is written in different ways depending on the font used and the national convention. The most popular form of the cent sign is an elongated letter c that traverses a diagonal stroke vertical lines or simply a C, based on the currency it is. Cent amounts ranging from 1 to 99 are represented with one or two numbers and then followed by the abbreviation that is appropriate (2C5c to 7c, 75C/ or 99c) or in the form of subdivisions ($0.75, EUR0.99). In some countries, higher abbreviations such as "ct" are utilized. Languages that use other alphabets use their own abbreviations and conventions. The use of the cent symbol has mostly fallen into disuse since the mid-20th century as inflation has resulted in very few things being sold in cents in any currency. It was a feature on US keyboards for typewriters, however, it has not been used for computers. [
