 Beyonce Giselle Knowles Carter (/bi’anseI/ (listen), bee-ON–say;[4was born on September 4 in 1981. 5) is an American actor, singer and songwriter. Beyonce's awe-inspiring vocals and artistry have made her one of the most popular female singer of the 21st century, according to NPR. Her popularity has made her an iconic figure in the music industry and earning her the nickname "Queen Bey".Beyonce was a participant in numerous dance and singing competitions when she was an infant. Her fame exploded in the mid 1990s, when she was part of the R&B girl group Destiny's Child, one of the top-selling girl groups ever. After a brief hiatus her debut album Dangerously in Love (2003) that included the top-rated US Billboard Hot 100 singles "Crazy in Love", and "Baby Boy", was released. After the disbanding in 2006 of Destiny's Child, Beyonce released her second album as a solo artist B'Day, featuring the singles "Irreplaceable" and "Beautiful Liar". Beyonce also starred in multiple films such as The Pink Panther (2006), Dreamgirls (2006), Obsessed (2009) and The Lion King (2019). Jay-Z's marriage and her portrayal as Etta James in Cadillac Records (2008) had an influence on her third studio album, I Am... Sasha Fierce (2008). The album won six Grammy Awards, a record. It was the birthplace of the singles "If I Were A Boy" and "Single Ladies and "Halo". The singer released her fourth album 4, in the year 2011, after her breakup with Mathew Knowles, her father and manager.
